Our Journey

1 Million Heroes began in 2021–22 with The Heroes We Aspire, a book created after COVID-19 to bring hope to children through 50 one-page stories and hand-drawn portraits of Indian sports stars who overcame challenges.

From that start we’ve grown into digital stories, dolls, games, and videos — all with one purpose: to curate and share one million real heroes worldwide so millions of children are inspired to become heroes themselves. Early efforts like empowering displaced women in Manipur through crocheting reflect our belief that ordinary people can achieve extraordinary impact when given hope, opportunity, and a platform.

Our Mission

At 1 Million Heroes, our mission is to build a global community of one million heroes — real people from every walk of life who show courage, creativity, and kindness. We share their stories through books, apps, videos, games, and community projects to inspire millions of children worldwide to believe in themselves and grow up as heroes in their own communities.

Voices of Our Community

Parents, educators, and children share how 1 Million Heroes is inspiring them every day.

"I bought the Radha-Krishna crochet dolls for my daughter’s Janmashtami celebration in Pune. The dolls are soft, beautifully detailed and ethically made by women artisans in Manipur. My little girl now knows the story of Radha and Krishna because we tell it every night with these dolls. It feels good to support a cause while keeping our traditions alive."

"We live in Melbourne and my son adores animals. When we found the hand-stitched elephant and panda dolls from 1 Million Heroes, I was impressed by the craftsmanship and the story behind them. Each doll came with a short ‘hero tale’ about kindness to animals. It’s become our bedtime ritual, and I love that our purchase helped displaced women earn a living."

Samantha L.

Melbourne, Australia

"I signed up as an early tester for the ‘Gita for Kids’ program. My 9-year-old finds the short stories easy to follow, and the interactive questions help him think about values like honesty and resilience. It feels modern but stays true to the Gita’s essence."

Shalini V.

"Even before the official app launch, we’ve been trying the hero challenge worksheets. My 11-year-old chooses a ‘hero habit’ each week like kindness or perseverance. It’s simple but it’s already making a difference at home."

Ritu Sharma

Bangalore, India

"Before joining Project Stitching Hope I had lost my home and income in Manipur. Learning crochet gave me a skill, and now my dolls travel to homes across India and overseas. I feel proud that my work carries stories of courage and culture, and that people value handmade things again."

Sunita Devi

Artisan, Manipur

"I’m a social studies teacher in the United States and I use 1 Million Heroes’ printed hero stories and booklets in my classroom. Even before the app, these one-page stories spark powerful discussions about courage and empathy. I’m excited to see how the upcoming app will make this even more interactive."

🌱 We just keep growing

1 Million Heroes began as a book bringing hope to children through the stories of real-life champions. Project Stitching Hope began as a way to help displaced women rebuild their lives through crocheting. Both started as small sparks — one to inspire children with timeless wisdom, the other to heal women through the power of creation.

What makes them special is that they never stand still.
Every story told, every doll held, every stitch sewn adds to something bigger. A child somewhere learns to rise with courage. A woman somewhere rebuilds her life with dignity. And together, the circle of impact expands.

From classrooms to living rooms, from local workshops to global festivals — we just keep growing. Not because we chase size, but because hope, courage, and kindness are seeds that naturally multiply when shared.

✨ Every hero we curate. Every stitch of hope we create. That’s how we grow — quietly, steadily, endlessly.
